Zhao’s presentation involves a Fortune 500 industrial automation company using Cassia Network long-range Bluetooth routers as part of a complete predictive maintenance solution using vibration sensors monitoring low-voltage motors in factories worldwide.
SENSORS EXPO 2018 – PREDICTIVE MAINTENANCE IOT
Predictive maintenance has emerged as a common use case across many verticals in the IoT. Inasmuch as predictive maintenance essentially means detecting problems and finding operational efficiencies before problems occur, use cases are occurring in many IoT verticals including those beyond industrial IoT (IIoT), including senior care, education, smart cities and buildings and others. Moreover, Cassia Networks has active predictive maintenance use cases involving these additional verticals as well as others.
Similar to IoT-based asset tracking (aka finding stuff) IoT predictive maintenance has emerged as a fundamental aspect of the Internet of Things. Predictive maintenance spans vertical markets from condition monitoring of motors to brewery tanks to people.
Moreover, end users are largely focused on the data gleaned from predictive maintenance IoT, and not the method of connectivity. A wireless technology veteran with deep experience in multiple wireless connectivity protocols, Zhao, will provide a clarity on areas where long-range Bluetooth serves well as the connectivity option to choose. Felix Zhao is the Founder and CEO of Cassia Networks, Inc. and the inventor of the world’s first Bluetooth router. For inventing the category of Bluetooth router, Cassia Networks received Engadget’s coveted “Best of CES” in 2016.

Before founding Cassia Networks, Felix was the VP & GM of APAC for Sensys Networks where he grew the revenue of Sensys APAC region 300% in two years. Prior to Sensys, Felix served as the vice president, mesh technology at Aruba Networks (NASDAQ: ARUN), which acquired Felix’s company Azalea Networks in 2010. Felix founded Azalea Networks in 2005 and served as CEO, CTO and sat on the board directors. At Azalea, Felix was the lead developer of wireless mesh technology and inventor of the Azalea Wi-Fi Mesh Router. He grew the company from three to 120 employees and won the Wireless Beijing project for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Felix also initiated the first large-scale China Mobile 3G + Wi-Fi project in 2009. Before Azalea, Felix worked for Cisco Systems and Cable & Wireless IDC where he was a key contributor for developing the wireless products and solutions at those companies. Felix is also the founding partner of zPark Venture.
